What is the meaning, purpose, history, and/ or significance of waist beads?
Waist Beads are an excellent tool for women to feel more feminine and beautiful. The tradition of wearing beads is an age-old one. They have been worn for varying reasons by royalty for body adornment, deification and decoration at all age.
The wearing of beads on the waist was made popular by West Africans. Over time, the culture of the use of beads has been associated with both spiritual and decorative reasons. In some parts of Africa, the beads are anointed in oils for religious purpose.
Can I bathe in my waist beads?
Yes. After bathing, make sure to pat your beads dry with a towel and moisturize your skin. Keeping your skin moisturized will prevent skin irritation especially for those with sensitive skin. Just be mindful not to yank on them while pulling your pants down to use the bathroom.
Where are BAYA Creations strands made ?
Baya waist beads are manufactured in Ghana. All beads are handmade by "Auntie Ekuwa" and her daughters "Maanu" and "Efua" at the Kumasi market.
Do I have to measure myself to place an order?
No, you don't have to measure yourself in inches. Most our strands measure 50inches unless specified otherwise. We do not charge extra for larger sizes. However, we will ask for verification if customers take advantage by doubling the inches. Please practice the honor system. If you need to change your measurement after placing your order please email us as soon as possible. We will try to update the length of your strand but can't promise it will be done.

How do I know if my order has been placed?
You will receive an order confirmation notice to the email address you provided along with a receipt shortly after placing your order. Be sure to check your spam folder as well for an order confirmation.
Also, please make sure you enter your correct email address. Any misspelling can affect whether you receive an email confirmation.
I accidentally input the wrong address upon checkout...what now?
We understand things happen and that's why we always run a USPS address confirmation check before shipping your package. Make sure the email you provide during checkout is correct otherwise we will not be able to reach out to you to update your address and your order will be canceled after 30 days from the day it was placed. We can't guarantee you will be able to purchase the same items after your order has been canceled.
Can I wear waist beads while pregnant ?
Yes. If you become pregnant while wearing your waist beads, be sure to pull your waist beads up over your belly as soon your belly starts to grow wider than your waist bead measurements. If you are already pregnant, you want to measure your beads wide enough to allow for weight gain, but not so wide that they fall off your body.
When will my order ship? How do I track my order?
Ready made strands ship in 1-3 business days. Custom strands ship after they are manufactured, which is approximately 7~14 days after order placement. After strands are packaged, they can take up to 7 days to ship. Once your order is ready to be shipped, you will be emailed a United States Postal Service (USPS) tracking number at which point you will be able to keep track of your order.
How many strands should I wear ?
For beginners, we recommend wearing 1-3 strands. The more you get used to wearing waist beads, the more strands you may add.
Can I get my beads even though I'm still losing weight?
Totally! When you lose enough weight that there is 3 -5 inches of extra string available for retying, tie-on waist beads can be cut and re-tied to fit if you lose a substantial amount of weight. Just be sure there is enough string to make 2-3 knots.
